IAF Addresses Coronavirus Pandemic

IAF ADDRESSES CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC (DEMO)

Earlier this month, the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) released a statement addressing the safety concerns and travel restrictions in relation to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. These concerns are expected to affect accredited conformity assessment activities. In response, both accreditation bodies (AB) and certification bodies (CB) will be introducing alternative arrangements to conduct their assessments. These alternative arrangements can include conducting these assessments remotely and/or rescheduling activities that cannot be carried out remotely.

These safety measures are being implemented not only to ensure good health of AB and CB staff, but also to ensure that certified organizations are being served in the most optimal way possible given the current situation. However, according to the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), specific schemes such as AS9100 and AS9120 may differ in terms of alternative assessment resulting in postponed audit rather than conducting audits remotely.
